Description
Summary:
This research was conducted to know the dispersion of SO2 and PM 2.5 in cement X factory area which has complex topography. In the southern part of factory there are mountains of Kromong and in the eastern there are Java sea. This indicates that the Cirebon area is affected by the local wind cycle that will affect the dispersion of the SO2 and PM 2.5 pollutants. In addition, Cement X factory has location near by a residential area. Emision of SO2 and PM 2.5 emitted by kiln stack are extremely dangerous for health when exceeding the threshold. Therefore, it is necessary to simulate the dispersion of SO2 and PM 2.5 pollutants using WRF-CALPUFF modeling (Weather Research Forcast - California PUFF). Simulations were conducted on March 13, 2018 and February 24, 2018.

The data used are FNL data as WRF model input. The results of WRF are used as inputs for the CALMET model to produce a diagnostic wind field which is used as input for simulation of SO2 and PM 2.5 in CALPUFF. The dispersion model and concentration levels of SO2 and PM 2.5 generated from the CALPUFF model were analyzed and verified to test the ability of model in the pollutant dispersion

The results showed that the dispersion of SO2 and PM 2.5 pollutants influenced by the phenomen of land and sea winds. During afternoon, the dispersion of SO2 and PM 2.5 pollutant headss to the southwest due to the wind from the northeast. The maximum range for the SO2 pollutant is 12 km. The maximum dispersion of SO2 concentrations is 210 μg/m3 and it is still below the ambient air quality standard set by the government. In the early morning, the PM 2.5 pollutants heading to east toward the Java sea with the maximum concentrations is 30 μg/m3.
