<p align="justify">Indonesia has abundant coal resources, which is around 105 billion tons. This makes Indonesia as one of the largest coal producers in the world. Coal as a solid fuel has a quality level, the higher the quality of coal, the higher the selling price. Improving the quality of coal is done by reducing the moisture content of water in coal. At presents, the drying method that widely used is using rotary dryer. Hower, this method allows the danger that occurs due to the self-ignition phenomenon. Other alternative method is using screw conveyor dryer method. <br /> <br /> In screw conveyor dryer, coal is heated with hot fluid which will not come in direct contact with coal. Screw conveyor dryer is a method of improving the quality of coal by using hot fluid flow. Coal and fluid are flowed together through two different iron pipes that function as heat exchangers. Hot fluid is flowed using a pump and coal using screw conveyor. <br /> <br /> The design of this screw conveyor dryer can be used as a module that can be duplicated on a commercial scale. Testing shows good results so that the design results can be useful for developing research on screw conveyor dryers in the future.<p align="justify">
