ANALYSIS OF ECONOMIC AND SANITATION VULNERABILITY ON LOCAL FISING COMMUNITY CAUSED BY SHORELINE CHANGES USING MULTI CRITERIA DECISION MAKING

Study about economic and sanitation vulnerability caused by shoreline changes, which can give negative effects to local fishing community, requires information of sustainability pillars that integrated with geographic information system (GIS). Shoreline position and its rate derived from satellite i...

Shoreline position and its rate derived from satellite images. Meanwhile, the information of sosial-economic-environmental aspects derived from inductive approach that emphasis previous studies. This research aims to prove that fisherman’s economic and sanitation vulverability over study area (Desa Sungaibuntu and Desa Cemarajaya, Karawang Regency) will get higher as the shoreline changes. Methods used in this research to identify shoreline changes is band rationing. Tree system approach within Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) used in the identification of vulnerability criterias. Integrated sanitation vulnerability assessment tool combines spatial features, socio-cultural, economic, and technology variables representing components of exposure, sensitivity, as well as adaptive capacity. Vulnerability assessment based on expert judgement and fishermen’ objectivity. The result of spatial data processing shows that shoreline has continuously changes and it give negative effects caused by flooding/ inundation. Sanitation vulnerability assessment tool derived from MCDM is practically easy to use over various study area. The result shows the index of sanitation vulnerability within Desa Cemarajaya (97,04/200) is relatively higher than Desa Sungaibuntu (67,52/200). A high fishermen’s sensitivity and exposure, associated with shoreline changes with a rate of -0,15 m/year and -2,89 m/year, yet low adaptive capacity resulted in higher vulnerability. text
