One aspect that needs to be investigated is security related data from IoT. Already a lot of research that says one security hole from the use of the IoT is there in the transmission or exchange of data. This is because in the process of data transmission, an IoT infrastructure in general requires public internet service that triggers the occurrence of data theft as well as eavesdropping attacks, man in the middle attack and various kinds of similar attacks that can happen at any time. <br /> <br /> In this research, a module was created as a solution to the problem of data security in IoT infrastructure. The module created is a secure gateway built on a Single Board Computer (SBC) device in the form of Raspberry Pi. The secure gateway module is built by implementing the SSL / TLS VPN protocol. The use of SSL / TLS VPN concepts will guarantee data security in the transmission process using public networks. In implementation, the secure gateway module creates a secure dedicated channel within the public network to bridge the data transmission process from an IoT device to an IoT server. Thus each IoT device connected to a secure gateway module, its data will be transmitted via a secure gateway module before being forwarded to the transmission destination. <br /> <br /> From the results of research and test results conducted, secure gateway Module made on SBC raspberry pi by implementing the concept of VPN SSL / TLS can work as expected by meeting the functional specifications and non functional ones that have been determined. In terms of performance, the application of a secure gateway module on an IoT infrastructure makes the data transmission process a little slower. The slowing down of the data transmission process is influenced by the data security process which makes every data transmitted more secure. text |
