Land subsidence in Bandung occurs as a natural phenomenon such as tectonic and volcanic activity, natural compaction of alluvium soil; it also can be caused by human activities such as ground compaction due to excessive loading on the surface and groundwater extraction. Land subsidence leads so many disadvantages and inconvenience such as crack on buildings and infrastructures and expansion of flooding area. This research was conducted in Bumi Adipura Housing Complex, Kecamatan Gedebage, Bandung-West Java. The subsidence in this area identified by the lowering ground surface compared to the stable casing pipe of water bore which constructed in hard rock layer relatively. The measurement of relative subsidence was done by measuring the difference in height between the casing pipe with the surrounding ground surface which constructed in different time. Modelling using finite element analysis was conducted to determine the the impact of decreasing of groundwater level on absolute land subsidence. This research also conducted to determine the effect of Young’s modulus to land subsidence. The subsidence in this area was caused by groundwater extraction accompanied by excessive loading due to rapid development on the surface. text
