Summary: | <p align="justify">Service computing system was categorized as a new terminology in service computing. Just like most of computing systems, one of the nonfunctional properties of this system is dependability. Dependability is an integrated concept that encompasses several attribute, namely availability (i.e the system will always be operational when service requested), reliability (i.e that the system will keep operating while being used), safety (i.e the absence of disastrous consequences for users and the environment), integrity (i.e the absence of improper alterations in the system), and maintainability (i.e the system ability to modify or repair itself once it failed). Though the research on the evaluation and analysis of computing system dependability has been done even since before 2004, few studies have specifically focused its research on dependability for services computing systems. <br />

The evaluation of dependability of services computing systems remains a hot topic among industry and academia to date. Evaluation can be conducted by measuring dependability with measurement models. Previous studies have discussed the dependability measurement of systems through component-based and subsystem-based. But since analysis with both bases is difficult to implement for complex systems, then analysis from a service-oriented perspective is more likely for services computing systems, considering that. This is in accordance with the characteristics of the systems that have a variety of components with relatively complex interactions. Research in 2011-2014 has resulted on an attribute model that can be used to analyze from that perspective, but does not focus on how the measurement process is. Therefore, the dependabiliy evaluation requires a measurement framework developed from the model. By adopting Design Science Research methodology as the framework of this thesis research, the design of measurement framework dependability of services computing systems was developed. This framework contains metrics for the quantification and analysis of dependability attributes, methods and measurement processes.<p align="justify"> |
