Description
Summary:<palign="justify">Special Capital Region of Jakarta (DKI Jakarta) with an area of 662,33 km² and population of 10.177.024 people, has experienced considerable land subsidence. The annual rate of land subsidence for Jakarta is between 20-25 cm/year in certain location and periods.

Groundwater extraction is one of the main causes of land subsidence in Jakarta. The direct impacts of the land subsidence in Jakarta such as cracking of permanent constructions and roads, tilting of houses and buildings, “sinking” of houses and buildings, wider expansion of coastal or inland flooding areas, and increased inland sea water intrusion. Therefore, the final project is expected to provide strategies of risk reduction of land subsdidence in Jakarta. The method in this research are literature study and spatial analysis by combining and exhibit simultaneously a set of data separately, which is part of the same area to identify spatial relationship. The result of literature study and spatial analysis are used as the rationale for the disaster risk reduction strategies. The strategy for disaster risk reduction of land subsidence in Jakarta is catagorized into two catagories which are short-term strategy and long-term strategy.<palign="justify">
