Nowadays, a lot of parties have participated in providing emergency sanitation products, one of the products is latrine. Unfortunately, if emergency latrines do not meet the needs and hopes of the targeted people, in most cases, people refuse to use the latrine. Jamban Dian Desa (JDD) or Dian Desa’s Latrine provided for the tornado affected people in Pulau Harapan, Kepulauan Seribu is an opportunity to study this phenomenon. JDD is an emergency sanitation product from Yayasan Dian Desa installed on the third phase of the emergency response. This portable latrine consists of an upper structure and a wastewater treatment unit. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine factors associated with emergency latrine utilization among the disaster affected people in Pulau Harapan, Kepulauan Seribu. These factors will then help give recommendations for a better design. The data were collected through interview with key informants, observations of the JDD’s existing condition and questionnaires given to users. SPSS version 20 was used for data entry and analysis. Binary logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with latrine utilization. The result of this study shows JDD is consistent with the emergency latrine design criteria. Unfortunately, from 58 targeted families only 22 families still use the JDD. From binary logistic regression, 10 factors prove to contribute 59.2% to emergency latrine utilization and simultaneously have significant affect. To increase the utilization of the JDD, this study recommends modification of JDD’s height and slab type also equip JDD with lighting, water tap, and handrails<p align="justify"> text
