Description
Summary:Waste management in Indonesia still apply collect-transport-dispose paradigm. This paradigm creates the problem about landfill condition in Indonesia, spesifically in Purwakarta. Purwakarta sub-district is the most populated sub-district among the other sub-district in Purwakarta. This population contributed with amount of waste that will enter to landfill. Material recovery facility (MRF) is applied to reduce amount of waste that will enter to landfill, with the applied method is recovery system. Location of this material recovery facility will be in Citalang area with design capacity of 75 ton/day. Waste input are from household waste, with organic and anorganic waste will be the characteristic of waste. Organic waste will be treated in composting facility while anorganic waste will be treated in MRF. Alternative unit systems for composting facility are manual separated organic waste, shredder machine, bamboo aerator for open windrow composting, and sieving machine while the alternative unit systems for anorganic waste are bag opening, trommel screen, manual separated of anorganic waste, shear shredder to make the waste is smaller, and baler to compact separated anorganic waste. Supporting facility in MRF are MRF office, compost package warehouse, toilets, and baler warehouse. Total area for typical MRF is 12000 m^2. From result planning, total volume for organic waste are 840,78m^3 while total weight recovery of anorganic waste is 17,91 ton/day with system recovery 94,74%, recovery waste purity is 100% and also system efficiency is 94,74% with total residual waste is 2,09 ton/day.
