The construction of Aji Raden Small Dams as raw <br /> <br /> water reservoir was expected to support the city against raw water supply crisis <br /> <br /> especially in East Balikpapan region. Aji Raden Dam is a homogenous earthfill dam <br /> <br /> with an ogee overflow spillway. This paper mainly discusses about the steps in <br /> <br /> designing Aji Raden Dam which consist of , (a) hydrology analysis to obtain the value <br /> <br /> of flood discharge and the dependable discharge, (b) dead storage analysis by USLE <br /> <br /> method, (c) reservoir operation optimization, (d) hydraulic and structure planning of <br /> <br /> spillway crest, (e) hydraulic and dimension planning of spillway channel, (f) designing <br /> <br /> the body of dam, (g) budget planning for construction. Based on analysis there are <br /> <br /> several conclusions, those are (1) the dam has 1281531 m3 of total storage with <br /> <br /> 531067 m3 of effective storage, and 240463 m3 of dead storage, (2) elevation of <br /> <br /> normal water level is on EL +16.5 m, elevation of dead strorage level is on EL +14.35 <br /> <br /> m, and the full reservoir level is on EL +18 m, (3) based on reservoir release <br /> <br /> optimization analysis, the reservoir has the total release of 64.85 l/s in dry period to <br /> <br /> 205 l/s in wet period, (4) the body of dam is planned to be earthfill homogenous type <br /> <br /> with 1:3 upstream slope and 1:2.5 downstream slope, (5) the spillway is planned to <br /> <br /> have the flood discharge capacity of Q0.5 PMF = 83 m3/s with crest elevation on EL <br /> <br /> +16.5 m and total head above the crest H0 = 1.5 m. text
