Summary: | Labuan Bajo is included in four tourist destinations of ’10 New Bali’ which its development are focused by the government. The development of Labuan Bajo covers the infrastructure and facilities construction in the tourism area including homestays, restaurants, souvenir shops, and SME Centers. The development plan of Labuan Bajo Tourism Area requires urban environmental geology analysis. The purposes of this research are to determine the development zone of urban area and to provide recommendations for urban area development of Labuan Bajo Tourism Area. The research area is located at coordinates 9057000 – 9068000 mN dan 814000 – 821000 mE (UTM WGS 1984 Zone 50S) administratively located in Komodo District, Manggarai Barat Regency, Nusa Tenggara Timur with 40 km2 wide area. The methods used in this research are literature study, field mapping, petrographic analysis, clean water laboratory examination analysis, and urban environmental geology analysis using AHP method. The data used in this research comes from thematic maps, rock sample, and water sample compiled and digitized to result overlayed parameter maps of urban environmental geology. The research area’s elevation is 0 – 290 meters above sea level with a slope ranging from 0? – 55?. Radial and subdendritic river flow patterns. Geomorphology of the research area is consisted of Labuan Bajo Lava Flow Unit, Batu Cermin Karst Plain Unit, Golo Bilas Karst Hills Unit, Gorontalo Lava Flow Ridge Unit, Gorontalo Alluvial Plain Unit, Komodo Coastal Tower Hill, and Komodo Coastal Plain Unit. The geomorphic process observed are erosion, landslide, and karstification indicating that the research area have reached the adult geomorphic stage. Geology of the research is consisted of Dacite Unit, Limestone Unit, Andesite Unit, and Alluvial and Coastal Deposits Unit. Urban environmental geology analysis shows that Labuan Bajo Tourism Area recommended for the development of urban areas with its percentage of area is Suitable Zone (30%), Slightly Suitable Zone (32%), Fairly Suitable Zone (3%). The zone fnot recommended is Poorly Suitable Zone (1%) and Nonsuitable Zone (34%). |
