The research area is 50 km2, which is near Mount Tampomas.

Based on modified BMB Classification, the research area is divided into four geomorphological units. Those units are Cipanas Alluvial Plain Unit, Cikedung Homocline Ridge Unit, Conggeang Fault and Fold Zone Unit, and Tampomas

Lahar Hills Unit.

Stratigraphically, the research area can be divided into seven non-formal rock units formed during Late Miocene-Recent epoch. From the oldest to the youngest, those units are Claystone A Unit, Sandstone-Claystone Unit, Sandstone-Conglomerate Unit, Breccia A Unit, Claystone B Unit, Breccia B Unit, and Alluvial Unit.

Geological structures which developed in the research area are thrust fault, anticline, and syncline which are parts of Baribis Fault. The aquifer is classified as unconfined and confined aquifers.

The springs which are found in the research area are cold spring as depression spring and contact spring, and hot spring as fracture spring. Groundwater chemical parameters which are measured are pH (acidity) and TDS (Total Dissolved Solids).

On the cold spring (13) and groundwater well (4), the pH range from 4.46 to 7.2 and the TDS range from 66.5 to 295 mg/l which is classified as fresh water, whereas the hot spring’s (3) pH range from 4.71 to 5.42 and the TDS range from 1,125 to 1,800 mg/l which is classified as brackish water.

text
