Considering that reason, road condition should be maintained well and regularly. Regarding Peraturan Menteri Pekerjaan Umum No:13/PRT/M/2011, it is stated that the road autorithy (e.g. Bina Marga Propinsi) has the responsibility to maintain the national road and to establish the next 5 year-maintenance plan.</p> <br /> <br /> <p>The Bina Marga’s criteria which used the International Roughness Index (IRI) and Surface Distress Index (SDI) should be applied in that national road, based on review Manual No. 001/T/Bt/1995 which used Pavement Condition Index (PCI)’s variable referred to ASTM D 6433.</p> <br /> <br /> <p>The implementation of that method in Jalan Soekarno Hatta, as an arterial road in Bandung showed that the most probable deterioration was “poor” condition for Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method, compared with “failed” condition if the Bina Marga method was used.</p> <br /> <br /> <p>Correlation analysis applied in the case study showed that a very good correlation (R<sup>2</sup> = 0,916) was obtained between SDI and PCI variables, compared with another correlation (IRI versus PCI and IRI versus SDI).</p> <br /> <br /> <p>It could be concluded then the PCI variables could be used as a “damage criteria” which can replace the SDI variable for the Bina Marga method in the future.</p><p align="justify"> text |
