Quality control in production process plays an important role in industrial sphere because a decent quality control that continuously repeat could detect any errors of a production process quickly so that preventive action could be taken quickly and avoid bigger loss.

The main objectives of this project are to find out the highest to the lowest variable of defect in greige fabric production, to find out the cause of failure in production process, propose a solution in order to minimize the defect product of greige fabric. This research will conduct DMAIC Method as an approach in the process of analyzing the cause of the problem and to propose improvement solutions in order to reduce the defects of production. With the reduction of fabric defects, the company expected to survive in the middle of the fierce competition in line with the increase of national fabric import.

The result of this research, it can be noted that out of 7 (seven) defect which occur in the production process of greige fabric in PT. Ltex, the most frequently defect is Uneven weft density which total production 215,043 yard and DPMO result is 2.62. As for the lowest type of defect in the production process of greige fabric is unfinished weft by 15,195 yard of fabric. And based on the calculations of capability process, it could be known that capability process value is < (less than) 1, so it could be interpreted that production process of greige fabric in the PT. Ltex has not capable yet.

Based on the results of this research, it is known that the accuracy of the machine operator is the cause of the defect. So one of the recommendations given is Re-training the SOP in weaving Department. Through SOP training for these operators, it is expected that the defect will not happen anymore and the amount of production of greige fabric is increase. text
