Description
Summary:The completion philosophy within VICO Indonesia has evolved over the years. In the early field development between 1970 and 1994, the conventional completion was used with one or two production strings. In 1997, a simple monobore completion program with a 4-1/2 inch pipe was adopted. This type of completion resulted in drilling and completion cost savings. It was mechanically simpler because it eliminated all packers, nipples, and sliding sleeves.

This paper will evaluate VICO’s current well completion type with monobore or dual bore compared to conventional type in terms of gas recovery using four gas wells in X Field to determine completion type selection in the future that will give higher gas recovery by considering opportunity which may be taken from each completion type.

From the evaluation, monobore or dual bore completion type results in higher recovery than conventional completion with the most considerable EUR difference is 0.233 Bscf. However, well stimulation (i.e., hydraulic fracturing) in conventional completion may increase gas recovery significantly up to 79% in layers which are thick, have high skin and high reservoir pressure.
