Description
Summary:Insan Cendekia is a school that was established in 1996. This school’s main goal is in balancing the technological and general science and the spiritual knowledge and piety of it’s graduates. Not only the graduates are expected to excel at science, but also have a good morals. Since 2002 Insan Cendekia is under the administration of the Ministry of Religions of Indonesia. The attempt on improving the school as a leading madrasah with many accomplishment continues until now. One of the attempts is performing a renewal to the existing teaching method.

The change in trend of educational methods and teaching methods become a challenge for Insan Cendekia to retain and also improving the quality of it’s graduates. The active learning methods where teacher-student interaction is the main key of the success and other dynamic teaching methods become issues of this project. Besides, peer learning, which has been applied to several schools in other countries and was proven to be successful on improving the learning output is also going to be applied to this school. Thus, interaction, both student-student and student-teacher, is the main issue of this school’s design.

To solve that issue, intensification in interaction is not enough. With the Islamic background of this school, there is a boundary of how far an interaction—especially that of student to other student—can go. Accordingly, the design should facilitate the boundary without giving the impression of too confining. This problem can be solved by placing public surveillance, a method to give control in indirect and subtle way. surveillance pada tempat tempat interaksi tersebut
