Description
Summary:
4500 square meters resort is a multiple of lodging and leisure buildings with overwater villas as its specialty. It is located on Karang Beras Island, a gently sloped untouched island filled and surrounded by potential natural features within Kepulauan Seribu. The consumer of this resort is middle high income both abroad and local tourists. A lot of activities accommodated on and around the island including lodging, water recreation, island exploration, and mangrove nursery.
"Reflecterende" symbolizes the reflection of beauty of the Kepulauan Seribu as well as self-reflection. The concept of a soul-refreshing resort is manifested through user’s sequence: welcoming tourists by the composition of curvilinear overwater villas; continued by walking on a wooden deck through a lush mangroves forest that provide relaxing stimulus; then tourists are given the freedom to choose to explore further into the hearts and other side of the island or walk on other wooden decks which connects the island to the overwater villas.

To make the resort more refreshing, it is designed with a facade and space configuration that bring tourists closer to nature. Buildings appear simple with the dominance of horizontal elements and the use of natural materials. Each building has wide opening and oriented to the lagoon and sea view to capture the relaxing atmosphere. Especially for overwater villas, tourist won’t merely feel closer to nature by visual stimulus, but also physically attached to the engaging sea. This process is initiated by configuring villa’s floor level. The highest elevation lies in the entrance of the villa and then it goes down, closer to sea level until finally the tourists have the opportunity to touch and enjoy the beauty of the biotic components underwater.
