One important component of bogie is bogie frame. The bogie frame is a component that often gets repetitive loads with different magnitude. The recurring load can cause fatigue failure if it exceeds the fatigue failure criteria threshold. Therefore, an analysis is needed to predict the fatigue life of bogie frame.

In this thesis, modeling and simulation of LRT train are done using ANSYS Workbench software to create finite element model in the bogie frame and using Universal Mechanism to create model of multibody systems. Simulations are carried out with various loading cases as follows : loading on a straight track with a constant speed of 100 km / h, on a straight track with a constant acceleration of 1.0 m/s2, on a cornering path with a main radius of 78.1 m and on a cornering path with a main radius of 250 m. In all cases the loading is given the unevenness of both lateral and vertical rails based on UIC Bad standards in all of those cases.

The simulation results show that the stresses obtained from all cases are still below the endurance limit criteria for material of bogie frame. In addition, the stresses that occur also still below the criteria of Soderberg, Modified Goodman, Gerber, ASME-Elliptic, and Langer. This indicates that the fatigue life of bogie frame of LRT train is infinite. This research can be a valuable input for the next LRT train design.

Keyword : LRT Train, Bogie Frame, Fatigue Life, Multibody Dynamics text
