Description
Summary:
between the maker and the material that he/she works on. In the practice of craft, especially in ceramic craft, artisan's direct participation in the making is clearly represented in their works. This idea is visible from signs that appear from its imperfection, such as slightly differences in size of the products, curves that are not exactly similar between each products with the same design, and fingerprint texture from pinch forming technique. This idea inspires writer to make product that accentuate the texture visually.

As a strategy to accentuate the texture, writer use light to create a contrast visual by using the shadow that generated when light touches the texture. Writer decided to make lighting product from ceramic as an effort to colaborate light with ceramic. Writer intended to explore how far the Pinching technique can provide visual option to later be applied to lighting product by doing some experiment by applying pinch forming technique to different ceramic bodies, combining pinch technique with certain ceramic decoration techniques, and observing visual effect of certain clay bodies that touched by light to find out what visual option that can be generated for later be applied to lamp product.
