Description
Summary:
This project emphasizes the software design of ACDoctor, Air Conditioner diagnostic tool (AC) using sensor networks applications. ACDoctor was proposed due to the fact that air conditioning system consumes about 60% of building’s electrical power consumptions. ACDoctor uses wired (RS485) and wireless (Zigbee and WiFi) communications to obtain sensor measurement data in the Air Conditioner and its surrounding. The output of ACDoctor will be the performance level and sources of inefficiency (problems) of the air conditioning system. Software design of ACDoctor includes programming the microcontroller (ATMega328), database (MySQL), server, and user interface. In its software, ACDoctor also adopts sleep scheme that can minimize the overall power consumption of ACDoctor. The testing results show that the software design has been successfully implemented on each subsystem and also on the Android application. Sleep scheme adopted by ACDoctor has also been proven to be able to reduce the current consumption of each subsystem by about 50 mA.
