Summary: | Bandung is one of the cities in Indonesia that focuses public space as a place to

interact among its citizens. This can be seen from several newly built city parks,

as well as rejuvenation of some existing city parks. The public space of the

pedestrian is also received serious attention by the Government of Bandung, one

of them is the Sudirman area that has been completed by the end of 2016.

However, the integration between the region with the products in it less (Thamrin,

2017), on Sudirman area revitalization, which are existing street furniture there

are not used effectively and are less communicative in representing the region.

One of the initiatives to attract people to visit Sudirman area is to create

responsive products with the characteristics of the area of street furniture. Street

furniture based on its function is. So designing a responsive product according to

characteristics can be an attraction to create interaction for its users. In addition

to the standardization aspects that need to be considered, the characteristics of

user activity and the characteristics of the area should also be a major

consideration. Field observations and surveys were conducted to obtain the

characteristics of the Sudirman area. These results are matched by literature

review that results in tangible and intangible design needs. The results of

observations in the form of photographs into guidelines that will be processed

through sketch design that will then be developed schematically and produce an

ideal alternative design for the area Sudirman Bandung.

In a study focusing on the design of street furniture in the Sudirman Bandung

corridor is to produce an alternative design that suits the needs of activities and

needs visually or in conformity with environmental conditions Sudirman

Bandung. Methodology in the creation of street furniture here can be a

consideration for designers or the government in the procurement of street

furniture in public spaces. It is necessary for the uniqueness in street furniture in a public space in order to bring the character of an area that will impact on the

sense of belonging of the local community. |
