Summary: | Surfactant Huff ‘n’ Puff is one of the well stimulation method that can be applied in mature field to increases the oil recovery factor. Location of surfactant injection is the main point that differentiates surfactant Huff ‘n’ Puff and surfactant EOR. At Huff ‘n’ Puff method, the surfactant is injected into the production well while EOR injects it from the injector in a different location through the production well. The process is divided into three main stages, first stage is the surfactant injection, second one is shut in the production well to wait surfactant soaks,and the last one is open the production well and produce it naturally. <br />

The advantages of using Huff ‘n’ Puff surfactant stimulation method is reduce the cost efficiently because there is no need to make any injector system at the surface. Surfactant Huff ‘n’ Puff can also handle the problems occur near wellbore because of skin caused by plugging or scaling that affects the permeability value near wellbore. The working mechanism of surfactant may possibly reduce interfacial tension and change the rock wettability also has a huge impact on recoverable oil reserve and reservoir productivity. Parameters such as surfactant concentration, soaking time, injection rate and injection duration also affect recoverable oil reserve. |
