Young betel nuts that contain active alkaloid compounds including arecoline, arecaine, arecaidine, arecolidine, guvacine, guvacoline and isoguvasine are proven to have antifertility effects in male and female mice. This research aimed to study the ethanolic extract of fresh young betel nut on the number of embryo implants in mice (Mus musculus). Fresh young betel nut were extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent, then the macerate was filtered, the remaining solvent was evaporated, and the concentrated extract was dried and dissolved in 0.25% NaCMC solvent according to dose. Female 3-month-old mice with gestational age (GA) 0 days were grouped into 5 groups, namely (I) distilled water control; (II) solvent control; (III) treatment of 500 dosage; (IV) 600; and (V) 700 mg/kg body weight/day (@ 5 heads/group) from GA 0 days to GA 4 days orally. Female mice in GA 9 days were put down using CO2 and dissected to isolate the ovaries and uterus. The number of corpus luteum in the ovary, number of implantations, number of live fetuses, number of resorption, and number of dead embryos in the uterus were counted under a stereo surgical microscope. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Kruskal Wallis statistical test. The observations showed the average number (percent) on the gestating female mice treated with areca nut extract decreased in line with significant increase in dose (p < 0.05), i.e. in the group dose of 500 mg/kg = 79.13%; dose of 600 mg/kg = 66.47%; and 700 mg/kg = 37.77% compared to the group distilled water control = 100.00% and solvent control = 100%. The results showed that the treatment of ethanolic extract of young betel nut could reduce the number (percent) of implantation of mouse embryos. Further research on molecular process of failed implantation in mice from ethanolic extract of fresh young betel nut treatment is needed.<p align="justify"> text
