Summary: | The number of contractors in Indonesia increases annually. The increasing number of contractors has led to competition among the companies. Competition in the world of construction requires contractors to perform well. Contractor’s performance is a reflection of the achievements by the contractor in the process of utilizing the resources to produce construction services in accordance with the goals or objectives of the company. Contractors in Indonesia are qualified into three groups: small, medium, and large based on their own assets, competence, and business capability.
The first research objective was to determine the indicators to measure the contractor's performance by conducting literature studies from previous studies. The second objective is to find out whether the contractor qualifications related to performance outcomes by conducting a case study of 18 Large Qualification Contractors and 13 Medium Qualification Contractors using predetermined indicators.
Performance of contractor is divided into two major parts, financial and non financial performance. Financial performance is focused on assessing the company's financial strength. The company's non-financial performance focuses on assessing how contractors act as business entity, which include company’s growth, resource development, awareness of safety, health and the environment. From the results can be seen that the contractor qualifications related to performance outcomes. This can be proven by the differences in performance produced by each contractor qualification. This difference can be shown from the differences in both financial and non-financial performance for each qualification.
