Summary: |
Volcanic-earthquakes occurrs in a volcano due to various factors and each event can have different source mechanisms, by classifying the signal from various types of volcanic-seismic events by looking at the pattern of each signal can help the process of identifying the source mechanisms that occur within the volcano body. Short-Time Fourier Transforms (STFT) can be used as a method for knowing the frequency content of each signal that later can be used to support the classification of volcanic-earthquakes. So, it can be known the mechanism of the source of the earthquake that is associated with increased volcanic activity. In this research, spectral analysis using Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) with spectrogram function and window type of Hamming, window length and overlap vary depending on data length. The data used is the seismic record of Kelud volcano from January to February 2014 from single-component seismometer (component Z) Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG). During this period there were 8077 events classified into seven types of signals, they are VT-A with the frequency content is about 5-25 Hz, VT-B with the frequency content is about 3-16 Hz, LF with the frequency content is about 0,2-3,2 Hz, tectonic (local tectonic and distant tectonic) with the frequency content is about 3,5-13 Hz, volcanic tremor with the frequency content is about 2-7 Hz, hybrid which is preceded by high frequency onset which has a frequency content about 6-10 Hz which is then followed by a low frequency onset that has a frequency content similar as LF, and pyroclastic flow with the frequancy content is about 1-15 Hz . It deals with the source mechanism of each different event.
|
