In 1985, Indonesia has ratified the Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982) and has exclusive rights pursuant to Article 76 of UNCLOS 1982. One of the activities set out in the UNCLOS 1982 is the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas have done in the Continental Shelf shall be in accordance with the rules issued by the Government of Indonesia. However, in practice the regulations issued by the Government of Indonesia is still questionable related to compliance with the rules of UNCLOS 1982. This research to purpose and provide an overview of the compatibility between the Government issued regulations in Indonesia with UNCLOS 1982. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The method which used in this research is a literature review of studies related to the implementation of the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in the continental shelf with national regulations issued by Indonesia, which will be compliance with the regulations based on UNCLOS 1982. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> From this research, it can be concluded that the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas on the continental shelf in accordance with the rules has not been fully Continental Shelf Indonesia so that the implementation of these activities is not optimal in Indonesia. In practice, there are several important aspects to note are legal aspects, technical and institutional aspects.
