Summary:Academic library as one of the public places which provide studying room for students has been dealing with sound environment issues. This study is aimed to observe the correlation between sound environment, task performance, mental workload and acoustic perception. Eight male and eight female participants age 19-40 years old were required to complete an experiment of visual search task with the different level of difficulties. Task performance, mental workload and acoustic perception are assed in the end of the experiment. Evaluation of task performance is conducted by assessing the accuracy and reaction time, mental workload rated by Rating Scale Mental Effort, and acoustic perception is tested by means of soundscape questionnaire. The result of this study showed that there was no corellation between sound environment, task performance, and mental workload
