The rise of ATM fraud cases in Indonesia raise the anxiety in the community who use the services of this bank. The losses arising from this practice are enormous and can reach millions to trillions rupiah. Nowadays, the only one that guarantees the security of the ATM machine is the 6 digit PIN authentication. However, the PIN security method still creates a lot of loopholes for crime. 80% of the types of crimes that occur in ATMs are skimming and PIN Capturing.

Therefore, Fingershield ATM is designed in response to the crime problem. Fingershield ATM adds the security of ATM machines by using multi-layered authentication in the form of biological fingerprint data to make transactions. This fingerprint data is processed using fingerprint sensor and microcontroller with UART communication. The results are in the form of fingerprint templates that will be stored on an ATM card as a storage media. After that, process of fingerprint matching will be done. Another important component of Fingershield ATM is GUI. GUI serves as an intermediary for the interaction between the user and the system.
In its implementation, fingerprint verification has been successfully done with minimum time and error. In addition, the GUI display is also enough to provide comfort to the user and get good feedback from the user.
