Description
Summary:
Geophysical research has been conducted to observe tectonic conditions and volcano that produces iron sand deposits along Nangaba beach, Ende Flores. The purpose of this study is to determine the tectonic conditions and the formation of volcanoes in Ende Flores that resulted in the formation of iron sand deposits on Nangaba beach. Deposition of iron sand in the coastal area is a precipitate formed from the physical and chemical processes of volcanic rocks derived from volcanoes in Ende. Used two geophysical methods to find out the pattern of the spread of iron sand in Nangaba coastal area that is Self Potential method and Geolistrik method. The geoelectric investigation on two trajectories in the coastal area gives the result that path 1 denotes the resistivity value between 5.76-715 Ωm, with resistivity 5.76-11.5 Ωm and depth (1-7.46) m assumed as iron sand, resistivity (22.8 - 715) Ωm is assumed as sand, resistivity 715>Ωm is estimated as concrete and in path 2 the resistivity value between 41.7-431 Ωm, resistivity 41.7-58.2 Ωm and depth ranges (1.25-6.38) m is assumed as iron sand, resistivity 81.2 Ωm interpreted as sand. The resistivity 113-431 Ωm interpreted as basalt rocks with depths about 9.29 - 15.9 m. From the interpretation of Self Potential data of the rock source which contains iron sand is located on a hill about 200 meters away from the coastal area marked by a negative value on the measurement data.
