This plant has very fast doubling time, high resistance against toxic levels, and tend to be easier to be cultivated. The potential of this high productivity can be optimized with adjustment of plant starch duckweed characters with specific products so as to achieve the best quantity and quality. Character of starch that was tested in the study was adjusted based on characters that are listed in the SNI, namely; organoleptic character, reducing sugar content tested by dinitrosalycilic acid (DNS) method, amylose and amylopectin content tested by iodine-chlorometry. The sample of duckweed biomass used are derived from plants grown in controlled medidum and light. The data obtained from this research on further levels used to determine appropriate product recommendations. In addition, the determination of yield and productivity was done in addition to the quantitative character. Based on research results, the highest reduction of sugar content found in the species W. arrhiza. In general the amylopectin content of duckweed starch categorized high or low amylose content with varying values of each species and the highest value of amylose found in l. minor. The differences of characteristics on the whole of this species due to morphological and genetic factors each species, considering different genus comes from. These differences indicate a difference in the mechanism of biosynthesis of each species. Starch extract from all of the species have their respective product recommendations based on his character. As for the starch product recommendations in General is the raw material of the food (the developer and pengenyal) and products that involve a process of gelatinisasi. As for the recommendation of products made of starch based on duckweed species respectively; L. punctata as feed source, L. minor as a source of maltose, and W. arrhiza as raw material for fermentation products.
