Jakarta is a shopping destination, no wonder there are so many shopping centers in Jakarta. The rapid growth of shopping center in Jakarta, raises the orientation of public spending not only on economic needs (utilitarian lifestyle) but also recreational activities (hedonic lifestyle). The growing era of globalization and economic growth, become the main factor of society that influence the hedonic lifestyle. This hedonistic lifestyle also comes along with the boredom of urban people who spend too much time in the workplace. The Waterfront Lifestyle Center project is located in the middle of ASYA housing, Jakarta Garden City, Cakung, East Jakarta with total area of building floor as big as 26,532 m2 and 22,140 m2 of site’s area. This lifestyle center building that will be designed has four floors and three basement floors. The site is directly adjacent to an artificial lake of 15 hectares and an waterfront park that can be a potential and provides an attractive character for the lifestyle center to be designed. Urban Escape was chosen as the main concept because nowadays lifestyle center not only as a place to shop but as a place of recreation, entertainment, sport which can be used as a means of unwind and tired of daily activities. Hopefully with the Waterfront Lifestyle Center this can be a place for people who are saturated with city life to self recovery and restoration. The building consists of two main masses connected by a bridge. To provide a unique experience and ambience, the shape of the mass is designed with the concept of curved and terraces. Waterfront plaza and waterfront promenade is also designed to connect and integrate the building and the existing waterfront park.
