This method is known as Pump as Turbine (PaT). Usage of PaT is giving advantage in terms of higher availability of pump instead of turbine with various specification, and the installation cost of PaT is also lower than the installation cost of turbine. Problem arised when pump manufacturer rarely present the performance curve of the pump when operated as a turbine. As a result, user cannot directly understand the performance and the operating point of the PaT. In this final project, a mixed-flow pump will be simulated and directly tested to obtain the performace curve and operating point of the Pump as Turbine. The result of the numerical simulation show the performance curve of the Pump as Turbine on various rotational speed. The best efficiency point for each rotational velocity is between 35 – 40%. Direct test on the mixed-flow pump show the characteristic of the PaT which ranged on the performance of the simulated PaT.

text
