Caffee plantation has an important role of contribution for local economic developmnet. But as the necessities of life keeps in increasing, paradigm shift of society, land limitation, and carrying capacity of land arise of concerns about contributions of caffee plantation important role as local economic base. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research that aims to find out the extent of coffee plantation contribution as regional conomic base <br /> <br /> This research was conducted using mixed-methods with concurrent triangulation strategy in Atu Lintang and Bies Penentan Villages. The objectives of this study were to identify the fulfillment of minimum standard of living, reduces inequality, and sustainable production processes based on components of local economic development sustainability submitted by Blakely and Leigh (2013). <br /> <br /> From this research results it is known that coffee plantations contribute significantly for local economic in Central Aceh Distric, because coffee plantations are able to encourage the formation of derivative jobs and able to absorb labor force with different age and education background. However, the level of income earned is still relatively low due to the lack of skills and land limitations. <br /> <br /> Coffee plantations are also able to contribute positively for reduction of inequality in the region, because it is able to encourage coffee-producing areas to have public facilities, infrastructure, and adequate service quality. In addition, there is no discrimination based on gender, age, ethnicity, and origin of business actors in coffee plantation business. However, it is important to be aware of the high price of land, land limitations, and differences in income due to land tenure, educational background, and farmers' skills. <br /> <br /> Meanwhile, in terms of component of sustainable production process, coffee plantation is an economic base that is in accordance with the principles of sustainability so that it can continue to be cultivated as a source of income for society and regional income. But due to lack of availability of land, coffee plantations have begun to penetrate the forest area. text |
