Summary: | <p align="justify">In the process of packaging of agricultural products, 36% of organic waste is produced, but not all organic waste can be utilized. In addition, 75% of traditional organic market waste is fruit and vegetable waste. Larvae of Black soldier fly or BSF (Hermetia illucens L.) (Diptera: Stratiomyidae) has been known to be organic trash eaters. The remaining feed of the BSF larvae produces compost and leachate liquids that can be used as growth promoters. A leachate solution has been conducted as a hydroponic raft of floating raft on the growth of romaine lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var Longifolia). The experiment was conducted with five (5) treatments ie 100% mixed AB solution; AB mix solution: leachate solution 75%: 25%; AB mix solution: 50%: 50% leachate solution; AB Mix solution: 25%: 75% leachate solution; and 100% leachate solution. Each treatment was repeated as many as five (5) replications. The purpose of this study was to compare the growth of romaine lettuce with leachate solution and AB Mix as hydroponic solution. Observations were made on the number of leaves, leaf length, root length, root canopy ratio, and wet weight. The pH and electrical conductivity (EC) of hydroponic nutrients are correlated with wet weight. The results showed that hydroponic nutrients AB Mix: leachate solution (25%: 75%) yielded the highest number of romaine lettuce leaves (18.4 ± 2.67 strands) and the longest roots (20.37 ± 7.89 cm) although statistically not significantly different from other treatments, except with the treatment of 100% leachate solution. Treatment of AB Mix: 50%: 50% leachate solution resulted in maximum leaf length (25.16 ± 3.14 cm), statistically not significantly different from other treatments, but significantly different from the nutrient of 100% leachate solution. The lowest root canopy ratio (1.83) showed good root conditions and supported plant growth obtained from 100% leachate treatment and was statistically significantly different from other treatments. The highest wet weight of L. sativa var Longifolia was obtained from 100% AB Mix nutrient (62.69 ± 29.79 gram) but statistically not significantly different from other treatments except with 100% leachate treatment.<p align="justify"> |
