To support the good quality, hospital make a development of the large-scale building. But, in the development period arises a circulation problem which causes disorientation in understanding circulation in the area of hospital building. The circulation problems in hospital building are caused by wayfinding that does not work effectively. The wayfinding problems arise because most of hospitals is built with a large-scale project that have high complexity, but sometimes it’s not in accordance with the master plane. As a result, detailed aspect such as wayfinding in circulation are less noticed. Bad wayfinding causes patients to have difficulty in moving from one area to another.

One of hospital in Bandung that has wayfinding circulation problems is St. Borromeus Bandung. A fairly complex problem in the St. Borromeus Hospital is in the area of outpatient polyclinic Yosef Building 2, 2nd floor. It’s fairly complicated because this area has a variety administrative systems, but it’s not well organized, so many patients do not understand the flow of the circulation. This study aims to identify the problems of wayfinding in the circulation of outpatient polyclinic area Yosef Building 2, 2nd floor, St. Borromeus Hospital Bandung and is expected to provide solution and recommendation for hospital to improve the circulation quality of hospital building.

The method that will be used in this study is qualitative research (study case: area of outpatient polyclinic Yosef Building 2, 2nd floor, St. Borromeus hospital, Bandung) integrated with POE (Post Occupancy Evaluation) architecture wayfinding model. Data retrieval is done by observing and interviewing (walk-interview) the flow of outpatient circulation based on the division of the administrative in crowded time and not crowded time. The results of this study in the form of identification of the problem of design criteria in the space organization, the marking system and the area of the building that causes the wayfinding not to work effectively. The results of this study can be a recommendation to improve the design criteria for wayfinding problems. text
