| Summary: | <p align="justify"> Land subsidence is the phenomenon of decreasing the surface of the soil (reduced altitude of an area from a reference to a certain height) due to the reduction of soil subsurface mass below the soil surface. Land subsidence is quite a lot happening in Indonesia, as happened in the Bungbulang District, Garut Regency. Based on observation data, it is known that the area undergoes land subsidence with an average speed of decrease of about 0-18 cm / year. Land subsidence has a characteristic that varies spatially and temporally due to different factors. Factors that may cause ground subsidence are overhead loading, uncontrolled run-off of groundwater, oil mining activities, and earth tectonic activity. As a result of land subsidence, the community suffered various losses. The disadvantages include reduced springs, infrastructure damage, and so on. The decrease of ground level in Bungbulang District Garut Regency is interesting to be investigated the source of the cause. In this Thesis research, the value of the land subsidence, the indication of the cause of the soil surface decline, and the impact of the decreasing surface of the soil are presented in the form of spatial information. The information is expected to be used as one of the reference in understanding the characteristics of land subsidence in Bungbulang District Garut Regency. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the main cause of land subsidence in Bungbulang District Garut Regency is due to the existence of mining activities that utilize groundwater suction. <p align="justify"> |
