Summary: |
X block is a coalbed methane (CBM) exploration block which is administratively located in Kabupaten Muara Enim, 40 km southwest from the city of
Palembang. This block, with total area of 2000 km2, is located in Lematang Depression and Pendopo-Limau Anticlinorium. Geologic analysis and coalbed methane resources estimation in this study are concentrated in Petai Seam, which is part of Muara Enim Formation's coal group according to research that conducted by Shell (1976).
The attribute-based map of coal seam thickness indicates that the coal seam is generally thicker in the middle part of the block with total thickness of 42 m. While geologic analysis shows that Petai Seam was deposited in the tide-dominated estuary environment with facies of transgressive marsh. Geological structures are observed
such as northwest-southeast trending anticlinorium, northwest-southeast trending thrust faults, and northeast-southwest trending normal faults. The resources calculation based on model is 3.32 Tcf for Category I (Excellent), 1.14 Tcf for Category II (Very Good), and 1.78 Tcf for Category III (Good).
|
