Summary: | Data storage with decentralized platforms provides security of privacy, transparency and data availability. This platform can build a system of information exchange that is safe from attacks. One platform that can be used is blockchain. Blockchain technology still has challenges, namely cost and scalability. Limited block sizes are one of the causes of cost and scalability problems. Blockchain takes a long time to verify and large storage costs. What's more if blockchain technology is used to store large amounts of data. In this study, blockchain technology was developed by utilizing the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS) network which can be accessed by anyone while connected to the network. The IPFS network is used to store files or information and blockchain technology is used to store file addresses in IPFS and verify each transaction. The design of this system uses a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach and literature studies from previous studies. The purpose of using SOA is to get a list of operations that must exist. The implementation of the system designed is done using: metamask, react.js, IPFS, and others. Evaluation is done by analyzing the costs incurred and comparing the cost requirements between systems designed with the ethereum system only. The evaluation results of this study show that the use of IPFS as file storage is very efficient in terms of costs incurred. This system is still less economical if the saved file is smaller than the IPFS hash size. |
