Description
Summary:
Mass-Housing development system is conducted by industrialization system. Western countries, such as United States, industrialization has already begun since 1970s, to fulfill housing needs and to eradicate social problems caused by unhealthy environment.

Building material industries and building components establishment by standarization and raising production quality become a crucial factor to support housing development program in large scale. In the establishment, building material and building components must be given top priority because it is needed to build housing stuctures.
During construction process, many systems and technologies should be developed to reduce construction cost, according to development goal and community affordability. One of the ways to reduce construction cost is by cutting back construction duration, so component technology advance is needed to support construction speed. Prefabrication technology is one way to achieve construction speed. From background described above, the objective of this research is to develop a prefabrication system, in the form of ribbed wall panel, which is a significant part in prefabrication system that could give influence on construction speed. Method used to design this panel system is by comparing and evaluating five prefabrication system that have been developed before based on construction speed aspect. From the result, factors that determine construction speed could be acknowledge and later developed into a fast-built reinforced panel.

Simulation conducted on panel design showed not only rapid construction that could be obtained, but also reduction in construction waste and saving in material using and labour cost.
