cycle cost of pavement widening project of Pakkae - Bts. Kota Pangkep which built using rigid pavement and flexible pavement. This study was conducted to obtain the best type of pavement based on life cycle cost analysis and traffic load. To evaluate life cycle cost of rigid pavement and flexible pavement the writer consider 3 types of pavement alternative scenario, namely; rigid pavement with design life of 25 years (alternative 1), flexible pavement with design life of 25 years (alternative 2), and flexible pavement with design life of 10 years (alternative 3). For each type of pavement handling scheme was applied such that they remain able to serve the needs of traffic, with the International Roughness index (IRI) value as the indicator predicted by empirical equations. The result of user cost analysis shows flexible pavement with design life of 25 years have the lowest user cost, while the deterministic analysis by the software of Realcost obtain the lowest cost available on flexible pavement with design life of 10 years. Since it has different result from agency cost and user cost, therefore it is necessary to approach decision by making total cost (the sum of agency cost and user cost). The result of total cost shows e flexible pavement design life of 25 years have the lowest total cost. From the technical side, the flexible pavement design life of 25 years is able to endure traffic loads. From this study also known that although rigid pavement has fewer maintenance than the flexible pavement, but still rigid pavement is more expensive in terms of cost. This is due to the cost of construction and the maintenance of rigid pavement is more expensive than flexible pavements.<p align="justify"> |
