Description
Summary:According to City of Bandung Waste Management Masterplan 2017-2037, all of the transfer facilities within Bandung City will be developed into a treatment facility as well. Batununggal transfer station, as the object under Bandung City’s jurisdiction is one of the masterplan’s target. This transfer station is faced with a very limited area spanning at only 270 m2 big. Based on field study and secondary data, Batununggal transfer station as per 2017 has to serve over 6.000 people and equal to 9,2 tons of waste per day from residential only. Organic waste constitutes the majority of the waste composition in the transfer station at 60%, while recyclable inorganic waste constitutes around 10% of the total waste generated. This transfer station will be developed into an integrated transfer station with segregation, windrow composting, and hydraulic lift facilities as its main features to support treatment facilities in the integrated transfer station. This integrated transfer station is projected to have the maximum capacity up to 13 tons of waste per day and life span until 2030. The transfer station will have the capability to segregate 584 kg of recyclable inorganic waste from mixed waste source and process 124,08 kg of organic waste into a compost. The number of trip of waste transported into final disposal site from this integrated transfer station is 2 rit/day. Based on economic analysis, it is found that this integrated transfer station will be economically profitable if asides from selling segregated and processed waste, a retribution from the locals at Rp. 50.000,00 per household is being practiced as well.
