Description
Summary:Denim based products is one of the most prevalent fashion products that has always

been a staple for most people, as the popularity of the material drives fashion

industry in general to create more trends and products based on it, especially fast

fashion retailers that has always adapt quickly to the ever changing fashion trends,

to accommodate consumer’s need in fashion. Fast and cheap are the two main

focuses to achieve such demands in fast fashion production, that produces huge

amounts of wastes in many forms and one of them is post-production textiles. Waste

such as post-production textile was seen as possessing no value for further

production or uses as material, however these wastes can be re-purposed through

implementations of sustainable concepts, techniques, and process such as craft and

slow fashion concept, with their simple process and use of low energy. The research

purpose is to create sustainable alternative material for fashion products and textile

purposes, using post-production denim waste to highlight value of waste, that can

benefit environment, while producing sustainable fashion products. Experiments

through simple sewing methods such as patchwork, stitching, and appliqué are used

to construct denim wastes pieces together, to create the alternative material with

slow process and craftsmanship as the focus, that can be replicated and use by

many. And designing functional fashion product like outer, with sustainability and

unisex aspects as post-modern fashion visual of the product, as the result of this

research.
