Summary: | <p align ="justify">The development of the urban metropolitan areas in Java, namely the Jabodetabek, Bandung Raya, Kedungsepur, and Gerbangkertosusila lead to utilization of natural resources and land use inefficiency. This condition also implies the unsustainable urban environment that indicated by the environmental carrying capacity issues, especially related to water resources carrying capacity (WRCC). The purpose of this study is to analyzes the effect of the development dynamics that would be correlated with water resources carrying capacity in urban metropolitan areas in Java. This study uses a descriptive-explanatory by using spatial data of land use in 2011 and the population census data of 2010 to calculate water supply, water demand and the carrying capacity of water resources in each region of metropolitan areas and correlation-regression methode to identify the correlation to water carrying capacity. GIS technology and SPSS are enhanced to exposed urban development variables that consisted of the demography, economic and built areas proporsion, and provide interrelation with WRCC. The results of this research, the level of the water carrying capacity in most of urban metropolitan areas in Java stand in deficit level. The results also show that the most influential factor of the development dinamics aspect to the water carrying capacity are the economic development and the proportion of built areas<p align ="justify">. |
