Summary:<p align="justify">Many areas of Indonesia are experiencing a phenomenon of land subsidence, which generally occurs in big cities. Land subsidence is a process of gradual downward settling of land surface towards a certain datum (geodetic reference framework) where there are various kinds of variables (Marfai, 2006). <br /> <br /> Land subsidence has varied characteristics, spatially and temporally. The main causes of land subsidence phenomena are land use, which causes compaction of aquifer systems due to groundwater extraction, overload, decomposition and drying of organic soils, underground mining, oil and gas extraction, sludge extraction, earth crust faults, hydrocompaction, natural compaction, shifting of tectonic plates, and melting of permafrost. Indications of land subsidence include tidal flooding, infrastructure damage, and seawater intrusion. <br /> <br /> Potential land subsidence is obtained by conducting an overlay spatial analysis and grid networks of six types of land use, which are thought to correlate as causes of land subsidence. The six types of land use that are intended are sediment areas, peatlands, mining, oil and gas concessions, geothermal, and settlements. <br /> <br /> Based on the research conducted there were 26.05% of regions in Indonesia in which there was a factor of land subsidence, 20.71% of the area in Indonesia, which had 2 factors causing land subsidence. Moreover, as many as 5.23% of regions in Indonesia are prone to experiencing a decrease in land surface because there are 3 factors in it. For regions in which there are 4 factors and more there are 0.49% of the area in Indonesia. <p align="justify"> <br />
