Summary:Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retrovirus which attacks the immune system, by destroying and <br /> <br /> disrupting its function. Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a term used for infection by HIV <br /> <br /> virus that attacks the immune system. Inadequate of knowledge, attitudes and risky behavioural are the <br /> <br /> major hindrances for preventing the spread of HIV. A cross-sectional studies were conducted on 500 <br /> <br /> healthcare and non-healthcare students from several universities in West Java and West Kalimantan, to <br /> <br /> observe differences in knowledge, attitude and behavioural towards HIV/AIDS and its relationships. The <br /> <br /> data were collected using questionnaires that have been tested for their validity and reliability. Students <br /> <br /> who have completed a questionnaire will be given a brocure containing information about HIV/AIDS. The <br /> <br /> results showed there was a significant difference in knowledge about HIV/AIDS between the healthcare <br /> <br /> students and non-healthcare; 77,2% non-healthcare didn’t know unprotected sex among men without <br /> <br /> condom could transmit HIV/AIDS; non-healthcare students have low level of knowledge about spesific <br /> <br /> questions; there is significant attitudes difference towards people living with HIV/AIDS, majority the nonhealthcare has negative attitudes rather than healthcare; there are behavioural differences related <br /> <br /> HIV/AIDS, the healthcare group don’t take risky behavioural. There is significant relationship knowledge <br /> <br /> with attitudes and behavioural, majority students with higher level of knowledge do positive attitudes <br /> <br /> and safe behavioural, majority subjects with medium level of knowledge do negative attitudes and in the <br /> <br /> safe category, majority subjects with low level of knowledge have negative attitude and take action risky. <br /> <br />
