Description
Summary:In a digital world such as the one we live in today, information system is now a business requirement that a standard organization must possess in order to survive amidst growing business competitions. It has various benefits that can help organizations achieve their objectives. In this study, an information system prototype is developed to solve the problems faced by Outpatient Care Doctors’ Salary Subsection in Santo Yusup Hospital. As the name implies, this subsection’s main task is to perform recapitulations about the salary of outpatient care doctors which is obtained from accumulated results of outpatient transactions. All series of work activities in this subsection are currently performed manually, starting from transaction data recording to monthly reports, because there is not any integration between related divisions in the subsection and the supporting information system. This causes a trade off between working time and error levels and is made even worse as there is only one worker who does all of those activities. The management sees this as an inefficiency that needs to be corrected. The information system designed in this study is expected to speed up the process of calculating outpatient doctors’ salary while still maintaining a low error level.

The information system prototype designed in this study is developed using System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) method which can be classified into eight stages. However, the prototype design conducted in this study only uses five of those stages, which ends in the testing stage of the constructed prototype. The prototype is designed based on the users’ requirements, which are obtained by means of interviews and are mapped out into use case diagram and PIECES framework. The main features of the designed prototype are data withdrawal from the database currently used by the hospital, salary calculation, and data export into a Microsoft Excel file. The system testing consists of 2 stages, which are verification and system validation. Verification is done to test the system’s compatibility with the requirement analysis conducted previously, while validation is done to test the calculation model and the system’s conformity with the real condition. Based on those verification and validation, the designed prototype is then deemed suitable with users’ requirements and is able to be implemented in Outpatient Care Doctors’ Salary Subsection with some adjustments
