As a result, mathematics is always considered difficult and unpleasant. PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) study revealed that Indonesian students scored poorly in terms of mathematics literacy. In the studies conducted in 2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, and 2012, Indonesian students only scored 367, 360, 391, 371, and 375 respectively, while the international average is 500. Realistic Mathematics Education approach is one real solution to overcome these problems. Thus, they invented the mathematics content for junior high school students grade 8 semester 1 using realistic mathematics education approach. Mathematics material in form textbook prepared by considering the following aspects: (1) attractive layout and illustrations, (2) materials presentation using real life examples with the invention principle, (3) daily-life themed practices, activities, and discussions, (4) easy-to-understand language which also includes local values, and (5) a reader-friendly nuance enhanced with moral and religious values.<p align="justify"> text
