On the other hand, the rate of discovery of petroleum resources in Indonesia from year to year is declining. Not to mention exploration and exploitation activities that do not always bring success (dry hole). STeP (Sub-Terrain Prospecting) is a combination of remote sensing technology and analytics with the aim of providing alternative solutions to the exploration matter through interpretation and quantification of various things happening on the Earth’s subsurface to assess and determine the presence of a hydrocarbon structure. STeP technology consists of four stages, namely lithodynamic analysis, geodynamic structure analysis, spectrometry analysis, and structurometric analysis. <br /> <br /> Lithodynamic analysis generates preliminary prediction of oil and gas, geodynamic structural analysis reveals the most prospective structure which contains hydrocarbons, spectrometry analysis reveals geoinformation anomalies which connected with hydrocarbon fields, and structurometric analysis forms tectonic stress field scheme related to hydrocarbon reserves. These four stages are combined to produce a model with an overview of the most prospective area with hydrocarbons. After generating a model, to improve the accuracy of local potential petroleum source, additional survey should be conducted, such as seismic surveys. STEP technology has the advantage of narrowing the suspected areas that contain oil, therefore the cost of geological exploration will decrease.<p align="justify"> text
