Description
Summary:Gravity method is one of the geophysics methods that utilize density contrast variation within the subsurface of the earth. This variation of density contrast is produced by the variety of gravity acceleration in some particular areas of the earth. The difference on the density contrast is very small, only several mgal, where 1 mgal is equivalent to 10cm/s2. Gravity method is a passive exploration method as it does not give any disturbance to the object of interest. Generally, the process of geophysics method consists of three stages; data acquisition, data processing, and data interpretation. The result obtained during the data acquisition has to be converted to mgal unit. After that, data processing will be done through data reduction until the value of Complete Bouger Anomaly is found. A separation of the residual and regional anomaly will take place afterwards. In this research, two methods are used to separate residual and regional anomaly, which are the polynomial fitting and wavelength filter method. During interpretation, gradient analysis is used to analyze geologic structures based on density contrast that are produced by exploration of gravity method and forward modeling is used to determine the basement of the subsurface.
