Description
Summary:E-books are books in the form of computer files, or electronic files. Currently, e-books have been commonly used in education, especially at university level in Indonesia. E-book has several advantages compared to conventional books, such as portability, large storage capacity, and good navigation capabilities. However, readers, especially students still prefer reading conventional books to e-books. The usage of e-books in Indonesia is still low. Increasing the usage of e-books is needed and the usage of conventional books can be reduced. This will reduce the usage of trees to make conventional books and also increasing people interest in reading. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate usability and user acceptance of e-books so the usage of e-books can increase.

Usability evaluation is done by measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and user satisfaction through experiments. Testing is done by asking participants to read novels in the form of e-books and conventional books. Meanwhile, the evaluation of user acceptance is measured using user acceptance questionnaire.

Research shows that e-books have less effectiveness and efficiency than conventional books. However, e-book users already feel quite satisfied with e-books. Then, the results of the user acceptance evaluation showed that the perceived usefulness felt by e-book users was the most influential factor in the intentional to continue using e-books. Meanwhile, external factors, such as compability, self-efficacy, relative advantage, and subjective norms do not have a significant influence in the intentional to continue using e-books. Perceived ease of use factor also does not have a significant influence in the intention to continue using e-books. From the evaluations, some solutions were given to improve the usability and user acceptance level of e-books.
